Daikin Europe is now using 100% renewable energy, generated by water-powered generation stations.

Daikin Europe now using 100% renewable energy
Green energy certified from electricity supplier Electrabel
Already in 2006 Daikin Europe NV negotiated a contract with electricity supplier Electrabel for the purchase of renewable electrical energy. The AlpEnergie contract guarantees that the electricity delivered will be from 100% renewable sources. The electricity comes from Electrabel’s French partners – Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR) and Société Hydroélectrique du Midi (SHEM) – who operate a 3,500 megawatt system consisting of 19 water-powered generation stations in the French Pyrenees and the Massif Central.

Lessening its impact on the environment
The 100% renewable power contributes to decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and their impact on global warming. The switch to renewable energy is only one part of Daikin’s ongoing programme of measures to reduce its impact on the environment, and is in line with the Daikin Group’s worldwide efforts in this area. Daikin Europe’s affiliates are also contributing to the effort, with Daikin Airconditioning France SAS and Daikin Air Conditioning Italy S.p.A. also having made the move to renewable energy.

The green energy agreement with Electrabel runs from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2010. For more information on Daikin Europe and its energy-efficient range of residential, business and industrial climate control solutions, visit www.daikin.eu.
